Breathalyzer Vending Machines Hope to Instill Responsibility

With tougher laws every day on drunk driving those who like to have a drink are finally starting to get smarter.

They realize that there are limits to what one can safely enjoy and what becomes dangerous. The truth is that once a person has had an alcoholic drink they should not be on the road until the alcohol has dissipated. Some people who like to enjoy a drink or two with a meal or when out with friends carry a portable breathalyzer so that they can check their levels. But most people don't bother with such devices. Instead they use the breathalyzer vending machines that are in the bar, pub, restaurant or night club they are drinking in.

How many times has a person felt sober and so decided to drive home? Perhaps they even drove safely, or at least thought they did, until the flashing light of the police car pulled them over and the officer demanded a breathalyzer test. This can be very unnerving even if you're not drunk. Wouldn't it be better to use the vending machine breathalyzer where all you need to do is deposit a couple of coins into it to learn if you're actually fit to drive home?

There are many advantages to having one of these in any establishment where the patrons may drink. If there is a customer who has obviously had too much to drink and the bartender would like to refuse to serve them, encouraging them to try the machine may make it easier to refuse them. It may also make them stop drinking. Hopefully those who try this breathalyzer vending machine will be smart enough not to drive when they see the level of alcohol in the systems. No one really wants to hurt anyone when they are not driving home nor do they want their driving records to show that they were driving under the influence.

These breathalyzer vending machines are equally as accurate as the ones use by the police. One thing that a drinker better know is what the allowable levels are when driving. They are very tiny, as they should be, but they do vary from place to place. For example, in some European counties the allowable levels of alcohol are zero. In others it is miniscule. That may be why European countries seem to have embraced this type of vending machine more so than their North American counterparts.

The breathalyzer vending machines will have written instructions on how to take the test. The customer blows through a straw into the machine which them measures the blood alcohol level. There are colored squares at the bottom of the machine for the customer to look at that shows the levels they have recorded and compares them to the levels of intoxication as they are explained.

With an average of nearly seventeen thousand deaths yearly related to drunk driving and more than a quarter of a million on top of that which cause injury it is time for those who choose to drink to choose responsibility as well.
